The world of design is really fantastic. Every season, new shapes and colors are presented to us in ways we couldn’t possibly imagine.
That’s no different when it comes to kitchens and bathrooms. These two areas of the home aren’t usually what comes to mind first when we think about home decor, but as far as design goes, we're always being surprised. While functionality is always a concern, designers are able to transform these places into an outburst of style and beauty.
Here are some of the newest trends for kitchen and bathroom sinks according to the top designers and brands.
Kitchen
As far as kitchen sinks go, what we will see in 2017 is a predominance of smart, linear silhouettes and a great use of alternative materials like wood and even bronze. They sometimes come associated with the aluminum, either as a finishing or a countertop. Apron-front sinks are also huge this year.
Mixing wood with other materials is a general decor trend for 2017. Linear designs are also fashionable. In the case above the wooden countertop contrasts beautifully with the aluminum.
Alternative materials are also being largely offered. The sink above, made of bronze, also shows another big trend - apron-front sinks.
In this case, wood isn’t simply composing, but the whole sink is made of it. Once again right angles with apron-front design.
Here again wood composes with the aluminum sink and the engineered countertop. The smart design provides a sliding chopping board.
Bathroom
Free standing sinks and oversized basins continue to be a major trend in 2017, sometimes in very bold designs. As with the kitchen sinks, different materials are being used, in this case, other than ceramic. Designers agree that modern, even minimalist styles are back. Among the chosen colors are:
- White
- Truffle
- Metallic gray
- Cafe brown
Free standing sinks are still in vogue this year. Here the balance between classic and modern was obtained in the bathroom and the elegant standing sink design makes it all compose beautifully and easily without dragging too much attention towards itself.
Less is still more in 2017. The tendency of smaller bathrooms make it necessary to reduce the dimensions of toilets, bathtubs and of course, sinks. The example above showcases that trend with a bold use of creative design that doesn’t take much space.
Oversized basins like this one are a way to stay up date with bathroom sink trends in 2017. This one is affectionately known as tam-tam.
Marble continues to be in, not only as flooring or cladding but also as bathroom accessories like these beautiful washbasins created by Carlo Colombo.
Copper sinks were largely used in the past, and this hammered copper one is at the same time classic and modern as well as elegant and daring.
Functional and constrained, this is another example of how the use of pared-down elements is back in vogue. The whole set was created by Stefano Cavazzana.
This stainless steel sink coated with gray graphite PVD was created by Piero Lissoni. The bottom part is the same stone as the stone top.
While most sinks on the market may look alike, these designer sinks above show what the trends are so you can set your kitchen and bathroom apart. Clever and unique designs are certainly going to make a huge impression so if you are looking to have a makeover or if you are building or buying a new home, it’s well worth it to invest in fittings like these.
