Art Deco ideas for your living room

To make your living room truly Art Deco styled spice up the walls with an appropriate wallpaper. Get a funky set of seats or sofa. Tables provide a stylish accent too. Look for sleek rectangular coffee tables or simply settle for a round end table that has a modern finish. Pair the tables to get that vintage feel. You can even get a nice colorful rug to round up the effect. The rug should however come in a geometrical shape that is popular with the vintage style. Mirrors work fine too, especially diamond shaped ones. Throw pillows in too. Don’t forget to add a few art pieces from the 30s and 40s era.

Give your room a regal feel with Egyptian influences

There was great influence of exotic lifestyles from places such as Egypt as travel became more rampant in between 1930 and 1940. After King Tutankhamen’s tomb was discovered, there was growing influence of hieroglyphics, pyramids, and sphinxes in most homes. You can recreate this Egyptian influence in your interiors by using symbols in your furniture or even on wall paper. Find an Egyptian-inspired piece of art and display it prominently in your living room to achieve that perfect Art Deco style.

Think of giving your bathroom and kitchen monochromatic black tiles with white combinations, or red and deep browns which were quite popular during this era. You may also consider using ceramic or porcelain tiles with a high gloss and in contrasting colors to achieve the true Art Décor style. Don’t forget mirrors to complete the 30s and 40s look.
