What Type of Swimming Pool Do You Need?

Installing a swimming pool in your home can be a substantial investment. For this reason, it is advisable to take your time and pick a pool that will indeed be worth the money. The good news is that there are so many different types of swimming pools, each with its unique design and style.

Besides, these swimming pools also feature different swimming pool prices and as such, it can be hard to know what works best for you.

This guide will give you as much information as possible so that it’s easier to make that decision.

Here are some options to consider:

Above-Ground Pools

The above-ground pool is not the most traditional swimming pool. But in recent years, above-ground pools have been gaining a lot of popularity. The reason for this is very simple. Unlike in-ground pools, above-ground pools are very cheap to install. However, they still have some shortcomings. For instance, the aesthetic appeal of the above-ground pool is not nearly as good as an in-ground one.

Besides, in-ground pools offer way better depth and they will last longer. Even if you will spend a high inground pool cost, in the end, it will be worth it.

Concrete Swimming Pools

You are also free to pick a variety of materials to use for your pool. But if you are on a tight budget, then you should go for concrete. It will cost way less compared to the fiberglass pool cost or any other high-end material out there.

Besides concrete also offers other advantages other than the cost. For example, it’s easy to customize concrete to meet your design preferences.

Concrete is also a very durable material, requires very little maintenance, and can easily resist water damage compared to other materials.

Despite this, concrete also wears off very fast and you will need to retouch it now and then to keep the pool looking good. In addition to this, it will take relatively longer to build a concrete pool.

Fiberglass Swimming Pools

For those of you who are looking for something a bit higher-end, then you can consider fiberglass swimming pools. But despite the high startup costs, fiberglass pools have many incredible benefits. For example, once installed, fiberglass requires very minimal maintenance.

In addition to this, fiberglass is also a smooth and non-porous surface. This means that the risk of mold or algae is basically zero.

You will also love the fact that these pools can be built in a very short amount of time. The pool is constructed in a factory and then transported to your house where it will be installed in no time.

Finally, you will also get amazing aesthetics with the pool. But even with these benefits, some serious disadvantages come with fiberglass pools.

In addition to the high costs, these are generally smaller in size. This is because they have to be constructed somewhere else and transported via road to the installation site. This limits the amount of size the pool can reach.

Things to Consider Before Getting a Pool

All the options listed above are indeed good but you cannot choose all of them. There are certain factors though you will need to keep in mind as you select a pool.

For example, what is your budget? If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on the average cost of inground pool, then you can pick an option with lower-end features.

Secondly, how much space do you have in the yard? In case your space is limited, go for something short-term like an above-ground pool. This will keep the cost to build a pool down and besides, above-ground pools can be customized to fit into smaller spaces.

Finally, consider the maintenance needed on the pool and whether you are in a position to do it or not. Only get a pool that you can maintain.
