We hired Leo for our kitchen remodel based on his Angie's list reviews. His prices were higher than other quotes received, but he was very pleasant and showed up when he said he would. He gutted out a few cabinets, our pantry, and 3 partial walls. He did an incomplete job with the pantry removal (left ceiling beam and brick edge). His framing job was of very poor quality. The base was uneven by as much as 5/8" and the slats were crooked and not fully nailed in. Leo also drilled a channel in the concrete floor to re-direct electric to our island. Leo did o.k. with the drilling, but did not put enough cement in the floor which meant the floor had to be leveled by another contractor before we could eventually tile it. We were going to have Leo put up our drywall once he completed the original job, but decided against it once we saw the quality of his work. We contacted him to correct the problems with the framing job, but he was not willing to come out unless we gave him the additional work. We ended up hiring another contractor that we had to pay extra to fix the poor job that Leo did. The second contractor had much better rates than Leo quoted for the drywall job and he did a good job despite having to work hard to get the seams straight on the crooked frame that Leo put up. Also note, Leo adds approximately 10% extra to his quote for additional material and service charges which was supposedly included in his quoted price. We paid him $1,300 for the job and another $500 plus for someone else to fix it. In addition, our new cabinets would not lay flush against his crooked walls, so it took a lot of troubleshooting and extra costs to get the cabinets and countertops to look o.k.
