A) Quality of the job. In short the quality of the job is extremely bad. 1) The contractor damaged the finish of the pre-finished hardwood in large areas (in each room) by sanding and applying polyurethane. This is utterly against manufacturer instructions and industry standards. In the included pictures you will see how this caused smudging and uneven finish (there is even a footprint embedded in the polyurethane!). 2) The workmanship is really awful and substandard: there are countless large dents, depressions and cracks caused by improper installation (see the pictures). The dents cross several planks and hence are caused by the contractor (and not manufacturer defects). Some planks are packed so close that the finish cracked. 3) The staircase has large uneven gaps on the sides. There is a thick uneven layer of polyurethane on the stairs with dust and pieces of wood embedded in the polyurethane. 4) There are many more examples of poor workmanship: the vent covers are not matching vent holes, there are unnecessary thresholds---look at the picture how cheap the contractor is: they cracked the threshold and instead of replacing it they just put wood putty on. The contractor left a piece of carpet stuck in the flooring. The holes in the baseboard for closet doors are wrong height and wrong location. The contractor damaged walls. Caulking is of very poor quality. The list just goes on and on and the review form here cannot do justice to the damage done. B) Professionality and personal integrity of the contractor. 1) The contractor outright lied to us regarding the sanding/polyurethane damage. 2) The contractor did not come to a scheduled and confirmed appointment. 3) The contractor accused us of lying about the extent of the damage. She did not come to see the damage herself asking us for photos instead. 3) The contractor made (several) bad faith offers of repairs (offering to do more sanding/polyurethane). 4) The contractor is not willing to provide her insurance information (despite repeated requests). 5) The contractor is not willing to pay the cost of repairs (obviously we do not want the contractor do the repairs, since she is a person that lies and does poor quality work).
