I want to make all consumers aware, make sure to see proof of licensing, and insurance. Numerous licenses are required to legally do business in the state of Arizona. These rules are in place for YOUR protection. ASK TO SEE PROOF! Any honest contractor, will provide proof. Or ask for their contractors license number and enter it at this web site:

http://www.azroc.gov/forms/contractorsearch.html

It should reflect what they are licensed to wire, this license should be either commercial/ residential; K11. Or residential; C11, there is also a commercial only L11. Ask to see proof of insurance! Any legitimate contractor is also required by law to present their current ROC# as well as the phone number for the Registrar of Contractors on ANY advertising.
I hope to be a driving force in honest contracting and customer service in the greater tucson area.

A. Quality, and my attention to detail and the incorporation of your vision into your electrical needs.

Q. What are the most rewarding aspects of being a local contractor?

A. Servicing the people in my community, and making friends along the way!

Q. Describe three recent jobs where you made your clients really happy

A. I have always made sure that all my customers in the end are happy with their service,
I make sure.

Q. Can you give advice to homeowners on how to find the best contractor for their project?

A. WHO SHOULD I HIRE?
Some tips on choosing the correct contractor for you; I suppose if your reading this you are interested in hiring a contractor. I know when choosing an electrical contractor it can be overwhelming and it can seem like a game of chance. Will I get a craftsman? Will they be honest? Will they build to a standard acceptable to their respective trade?
Can I trust these people in my home, my business? So many variables, that it would seem a daunting task to anyone.

I'm going to give you some tips that will at least cover your interest.
There are some things you can do to help assure you, that you hire a reputable and honest contractor.
I'll explain some things to look for and some things to ask for.

I'm licensed in two states as an Electrical Contractor. Being that I've been a contractor and have been through the licensing process. I have an in depth knowledge of the safeguards set in place to protect you the consumer.
In Alaska I'm required to be licensed as an electrical administrator, as well as, licensed as a specialty contractor.
My business must have a license as well.
Not to mention my municipal license and my borough license. And to get any of these license I must be bonded and insured. To be a contractor I must submit proof of my insurances to the state. It's required by law that my insurance representative notify the state if my insurance is cancelled or in non payment. If this happens they will suspend my license.

So this leads me to my first point,
ASK FOR THEIR LICENSE NUMBERS!
Ask for whomever you hires license number! In Arizona you can go to this web site, and search by company name, owners name, or license number.

Azroc.gov

This is a way to check them out.
Honest contractors will go through all these steps to assure their customers of their good intentions.
If you want to check out their business license go to this web site;

Azroc.gov

ASK FOR INSURANCE.
It is also perfectly acceptable to ask for a certificate of insurance from their insurance agent. Ask them for the name of their agent and request they have the agent contact you. This document should come from the insurance agent on record, not the contractor. All these rules are really in place for the protection of you, the consumer.

MAKE SURE YOU LIKE THEM!
Before you choose your contractor make sure that you can personally stand them, and your personalities can mesh well. Chances are if there are problems, your end product won't be everything you wanted. Building anything requires communication, and a team effort, to achieve exactly what you envision for your project.
You are trusting your contractor to take your vision and build it with their knowledge. Only you know what kind of personalities you work well with. And only you, know your vision. So communication is a must.

There are laws in place as far as acceptable down payments and warranty time frames.
Standards vary state by state, but for the most part it is a standard to not accept more than 10% down for any job. And a year for warranty against defects in craftsmanship and work.
I never ask for money down, and I personally won't accept any money until the work has been performed. This is one very effective way I've developed trust in my customers. It's my way of showing my confidence in the fact that I will perform as I stated before accepting any money. I NEVER ask for any money up front.

I know, it's a hard thing to know who to trust. When you don't do this everyday you are a little vulnerable and need to trust your contractor to remain ethical and have integrity.
If you do take my advice and ask for License... Bonding... Insurance...
The contractor should be open and understanding. They should not make you feel any way other than welcome. If they don't, or make you feel bad about asking. Or if they start making excuses. These should be red flags, follow your gut.
It's usually right!
I hope my insights have been or will be useful to you in your search for a builder that will make your project stress free and enjoyable.
Even if you don't use my services, I hope your build is a success.
