I AM SATISFIED I FOUND THIS ON THE WEB: Our deepest apology from all here at Ambient. We have been too focused on our bottom line that we have forgotten the customer. And yes due to the lack of knowledge of the home owner we in fact would install items that costs less. Ambient has taken a new stance---reprimand those who were involved. We now have a new policy in effect for integrity above all else and respect for the home owners instructions. Once again our apology

It takes a year to evaluate a system. (heating and cooling). I would not recommend Ambient Air Solutions, Bozeman MT. They did receive a negative cancellation letter. Ambient also received a certified letter labeled "Constructive Criticism"---no response to either. Only on my final review for the year did they become concerned. TOO late, I already had hired two other outfits over time to take care of Ambient's problems. Two stage furnace with wrong thermostat and the furnace control board set to off position for 2nd stage operation. New duct work not insulated and created a condensation problem. All of the old duct work was insulated. Due to the moisture problem furnace failed to ignite. Another HVAC expert fixed this problem. I only listed two problems that can be verified through the companies that did the work. (plenty of small incidents) If your wondering about the star rating I have discover that some paid sites remove negative ratings upon the Business request.

Do NOT hire "Ambient Air Solutions", Inc. I had to hire "Horn Construction" to fix another problem Ambient failed to do right on their new install. The old ducts were insulated, BUT the new ducts that Ambient installed were not----this resulted in a condensation problem that made the 4 inch filter wet. Horn Construction double insulated the NEW duct work and problem solved. Because of this moisture problem the furnace failed to ignite----it took Air controls Bozeman less than 30 minutes to change a part and the furnace was back in operation.

Update to original review. I hired Air Controls Bozeman for a very specific reasons: One was to do an overall safety check; and to show me in person that the furnace was set to run in 2nd stage and to test it. No matter how high the temp was set or how long the furnace ran, it did not go into 2nd stage. The tech removed the thermostat to check the wiring. (I did request a very simply thermostat and that is exactly what Ambient Solutions installed). Thermostat was only for a 1st stage furnace operation only. The next step, the tech, went to the furnace to check the control board. I was instructed to look at the top right corner of the control board for the dip jumper switches that were labeled "staging". This was in the off position, the tech suggested 10 minute setting. This time, after approximately 10 minutes, the 2nd stage operation was a success. My review was mostly neutral before, but now I remove a star for a negative review. There is no excuse for Ambient making such a huge mistake.

Make sure everything is in writing, original bid had wrong model furnace, easily corrected, but I did not ensure the BTU rating was listed. Without consent from customer, a lower (cheaper) rated Btu furnace was installed. Without consent, furnace location was moved to save on labor and material. Ambient will lie out-right to the customer to save on their bottom line. Simple item as telling them to do electrical, (use your own people) they even got it wrong at first. Overall work: the unit so far operates as it suppose to, BUT it is only early fall. And it has not got cold enough to check on the operation of the 2nd stage of the furnace. And I have my doubts that they did all the testing to ensure both stages of the furnace work correctly together. Beware I sent three identical letters to the office to see if mid-level management was intercepting the letters meant for the bosses, both letters were signed for by the same person. Unsure if the boss got the letter?? There was a couple work ethic issues (shortcuts) that may or may not create issues down the road. Installing AC coolant lines between AC access panel and exhaust pipe does make it difficult to do inspection of the AC evaporator coil and pan. Also beware they will talk about what they put into the bid, BUT your copy will have nothing about it. They will insist it is in the bid---YOUR copy will not have one word about what they are trying to pass off as being in the bid!!!
