You will need a plain coir mat for this DIY concept. For our version, we used jute as it's easy to work on. White leaf patterns are perfect for the season, so sketch out oak leaves and cut them out. If you are not keen on drawing them yourself, you can use clipart to serve as your pattern.

Now, get your patterns and white craft paint. Dab a bit of paint on each cut-out leaf. Be careful when you hold the patterns down. To make your welcome mat rustic-looking, use a random pattern and don't use one type of paint. If you are feeling a bit adventurous, go ahead and use traditional fall colors! They would certainly look great too.

Many homeowners love how cheap and easy it’s to make a geometric welcome mat perfect for fall! To prove to you that it really is inexpensive, here’s a list of the supplies that you'll need:

  • Ikea Trampa Doormat
  • Leftover white trim paint
  • 2 inches painter's tape
  • A paint brush
  • Scrap paper, preferably 8.5" x 11"
  • A pair of scissors

For this DIY project, use a letter-sized scrap paper to create a symmetrical template for your design. Then, just proceed on using it as your guide when you start painting on your mat. Do you know what’s better than the attractiveness of the doormat once you are done with it? The smiles that you'll get when you tell people that you've made your own doormat for only 10 bucks! This certainly is a wallet-friendly, creative welcome mat perfect for the season.

This is the perfect DIY welcome mat because you can customize it with any image you want! That way, it can match your decor and show off your personality. To get the full list of materials needed, check out HGTV.

Here's how to do it:

To start off, print the design that you want for your fall welcome mat. After cutting it, lay it on your doormat. Play with the spacing. Take your time to tweak it until you are satisfied with the design. If you want to be safe, tape the papers to get your desired spacing right in between the letters.

Next:

Since you already know the layout, put the stencil blank right on top of it. Trace the lettering or artwork using a pencil. Using your utility knife, cut the stencil out on your cutting mat. Set aside the small pieces as you'll need them for later.

Finally:

Now, all you have to do is spray the letter with paint. Don't paint at an angle so paint won't seep under your stencil paper. Once the paint is completely dry, you can then move on to the details! It’s that simple!
